Gifted, Shared, Loved...

i've been absent from bloggy land, and missing my RSC friends. i'm back with a plethora of catchup posts! mostly from RSC23...

granddaughter L turned 5 in late October. i mailed her 2 of my favorite quilts from RSC22.

just 2 very simple designs; i like to focus on color and contrast, rather than fiddly piecing. 3" squares, and 3" HSTs. she loved them!  no pics of the colorful backing, though...

my favorite DIL turned 30 (!!!) the end of July. P had commented in RSC21 that she really liked the scrappy twinkly stars that i was making- so obviously, the quilt needed to go live with her! (full picture of this quilt in my header photo, but now it's finished, not just a flimsy...) youngest grandson T had to get in on the happy occasion...

Daughter #2, A, turned 17 June 29. (see, i'm really behind!). as a budding young writer, the Full Stop quilt seemed like she was the best one for it to be loved by... she was really happy!

sharing and gifting a favorite quilt to one of my loved ones is the best ever. it's great when they find a home to go to; where they'll be appreciated and used.

June 30 my youngest son passed away tragically and unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident. although i kept sewing along with you all, i just didn't have the energy to blog for awhile.

i'm doing ok, and so is the family, though it was quite a shock, and so sad.

the above 2 quilts were not pieced as part of my RSC shenanigans. the first one is for a great niece's baby in CA, the second (Baby Shark; inspiration found here, although now that i revisit Katy's post, i realize she used HSTs, not isosceles triangles... ) was pieced for the Nebraska MCC quilt sale, and is on its way into the world...)

i appreciate the friendship and camaraderie of all my RSC bloggy (and Instagram!) friends! go see what every one else is up to- you just might be inspired!

what's GREEN on the inside, but BROWN on the outside?

MARCH, of course! (if you're sewing along with the RSC21 color of the month...)

i've had lots of sewing time this week- i'll have to remember to be especially thankful for that come June, July and august...

i'm very pleased with how my Full Stop quilt is coming along! i decided to make it 65" wide, and arrange the punctuation in rainbow order. i added a lime green spacer row between the yellow quotations and green brackets. i'll sew the rows together as we complete each color. i'd like this quilt to be about 85" long when done.

and just because it's the green month: here's another I Spy quilt i'm making for my DIL's sister. E was recently widowed, and she has 3 young children. (her husband was a police officer, killed in the line of duty) I've been feeling that i need to spread my quilts out a bit more, so this was a perfect opportunity to use some more of my I Spy 5" squares.

it's hard to tell from the {poor} lighting in the picture, but the solid blocks are a hunter green.

i plan on quilting it this morning while listening to our Saturday Morning Radio Shows (anyone ever listened to Ranger Bill? {warrior of the woodlands...})

#full stop AND #fullspeedahead

good morning! just popping in zippy quick before dashing off (hubs and i are heading off for a short weekend get-away! can't even remember the last time we were alone together not at home...) so this will be a short and sweet post.

i wrote a long post yesterday about the interesting things we found in our rentals as we were cleaning them out. (and it includes a really cool quilt! click over if you're interested...)

i have my 2 rows done for the Full Stop quilt. as you can see, i chose to use the grey for the punctuation, and i'll be using the COM for the "background". loving this so far. if i can scrounge up an English teacher that i know IRL, i'll be happy to share it with her/him.

and finally: A's embroidery quilt is done! she did a FANTASTIC job- i'm so proud of her!the solids are Kona cotton (what else?)

not gonna lie: i'm pretty sure this is my favorite quilt ever!

go see what everyone else is up to this yellow Saturday.
