if you know me IRL, you'll know i have a thing for old furniture... i don't know what it is about me, and those old, unloved primitive pieces, but when i see something really cool, i usually want to adopt it...
such was {is} the case for this 18 drawer oak cabinet. a friend happened to share it from a local antique store's FB post, and i knew the cabinet, and me, wouldn't be happy until it was living in my sewing room. i've promised all concerned that this is the last piece of {cool, old & primitive furniture that i'll be buying...}
and before you ask: no, i don't have 18 UFOs/WIPs to fill each of those drawers. don't be silly... haha! it's only about 15 or so...
here are my orange and purple triangles- in 3/6/9 groupings. i know where i'm going with this quilt now (changed my mind on the layout) and i'm excited to get started- i think i only have a few more colors of triangles to fill in, then it's ready for the design board.
i'm still working through all those 3" squares in my drawer: above is what i'm calling my Two Step Quilt, but i saw another one somewhere this week called a zipper quilt. (here's one Katy made, that doesn't scream RAINBOW!!!)
and lastly: thinking ahead to RSC23 (!!!) i've seen these flower baskets around the last couple months (sorry- again i can't remember where...) but thought they would be something different for me to work on. lots of my 3" squares are not so many in number anymore, so needing just 3 of them for each "flower" could work nicely. i received some lovely browns from Mari for participating in the Hands to Help Challenge, and with some batick from my stash, i'm looking forward to working on something different next year!

I ❤️ Your 18 drawer chest! For some reason I don’t have 3” scraps, but I do have a plethora of 2.5” squares! I need to follow your lead.
What a beautiful chest of drawers. Only 15?.... I think you need to start some more quilts to fill them up!
What a lovely old chest, I can just see it chocker block full of interesting UFOs.
Oh so love that cabinet!!! Don't give up on wonderful old furniture!!
I made a zipper quilt over at https://quiltchatter.blogspot.com/2022/09/going-well.html.Love those little triangles. I discovered a bunch in my sad little plastic drawer set. Can't wait to see your final layout! Stay safe and sew on !
