In which the blogger actually FINISHES a quilt!

can you even believe it?! i finished a RSC quilt! we won't be too picky about how this is a RSC15 quilt, and it's RSC17...

i had this top pieced into a flimsy for a while, and it was even quilted (baptist fans) for a longer while, and EVEN on the guest room bed with no binding for a while, too!

my cousin contacted me, and was interested in buying this quilt. turns out, i hated to let it go, D(there are so many scraps and memories in this quilt) but she loved it, and i knew it was going to a good home. i quickly finished off the binding, and this quilt went to its new forever home a couple weeks ago.

Kona solids for the win!

I"m loving how these simple 16 patches are turning out! Kona indigo is in each block, with my stash in the COM for the alternate squares.

this month I have: sour apple, avocado, pickle, moss, holly, grasshopper, spruce, green grass, chartreuse, sweet pea, leaf and mint.

i'm sure this will be a  quilt i'm keeping, although i say that about lots of my quilts!

So much green: all around!

so many greens, and sorted into different piles: sage, puke, forest, grass, lime...

then each sewn into 2 matching 16 patches- a light middle, a dark middle...

all with the 3" squares in my suitcase of squares... (which never, ever gets emptier, by the way...)

not complaining... click on over to angie's, see what everyone else is sewing this springy Saturday.

Well, that's a PLUS, anyway...

SO: I'll spare you the excuses/details of "I've been so incredibly busy these last weeks you couldn't even possibly imagine...." blah, blah, blah...

I always look forward to the few evenings each week I have the energy AND time to retreat to the sewing room and sew a few blocks in the COM. and who knew I had So. Much. Green. yikes!

I do keep a much more current on instagram: it's quicker, and blogger can really be a pain in the butt...  (jlcap69).

green: who ever thought of how many different greens there are? not me, that's for sure, until I started sorting them all.

maybe some day i'll be able to get away from always sewing monochromatically, but it's not looking good so far...

sage, forest, lime, grass, puke...

each one is endearing in its own way....

for me: true to form...

one thing that I've realized about myself for a long time: I work better under pressure. this month, and my monthly UFO goal of this bright scrappy trips has been no exception.  despite this quilt for my 2 youngest daughters being pin basted since November (!), it was quilted and bound with only about 27 hours to spare!

this scrappy trips pattern can, of course, be found for free on Bonnie Hunter's site. I'm thrilled with how it turned out- it's so bright and colorful! if you haven't made one of these scrappy trips yet, I'd recommend it- they're easy and fun!

I love the backing, too! I used my "free" coupon at my LQS, and  I'm loving how the circles on the back play with the squares on the front. although Daisy the donkey showed up for the photo shoot, she wasn't much in the mood, I guess. and Helga, the Icelandic sheep came along just for the heck of it, too. they don't usually stand so close to each other...

the fabrics in this quilt match the matching bed quilts I made for A and B a few years ago. the scrappy trips quilt is a nice snuggling size, and if they make their beds and display this quilt neatly on their rocker, the bedroom should look nice and neat and cozy.

ha!
